Current obsession: I’m lovin’ it “All Too Well”
(Disclaimer: this is my form of practice in learning to write English essays, so if there are mistakes in writing or grammar, I am open to constructive criticism privately on dm, thank you)
I always love some of Taylor Swift’s songs, especially a few from RED album and 1989 which left certain impressions and moments personally for me in the past when I was having my heart broken in 2013. I’m not claiming myself as a Swiftie / Swifty (yet), but recently I have a current obsession with Taylor Swift’s All Too Well 10 Minutes Version, the re-recorded one with the short movie MV starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien which both have great chemistries, blending of emotions and able to portray the lyrics well that fit into the 10 minutes duration. And also the Sad Girl Autumn version like after the other versions that made me tear up enough now I got the more melancholic yet more sad version of this masterpiece of the broken-hearted song:””)). I mean, it’s truly picturesque.
I’ve heard the past 3 minutes version of the song one before and it already moves me away with the lyrics. Now, like the ‘easter eggs’, some lyrics that added in between them successfully make me mesmerized. It’s painfully beautiful, well-pictured how the broken heart really went on the certain phase to finally being in the process of acceptance and moving on. Taylor is known for having a specialty in making poetical, charming yet metaphoric but not too hyperbolic lyrics of her masterpieces, including this one.
Some parts of the newly added lyrics and the existing ones that I found really interesting and captured me to another rollercoaster of emotions are these:
“ ’Til we were dead an buried,
Check the pulse and come back swearing it’s the same
After three months in the grave
And then you wondered where it went to as I reached for you,
But all I felt was shame, and you held my lifeless frame.”
“And there we are again where nobody had to know,
You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath..”
“..and you call me up again just to break me like a promise,
so casually cruel in the name of being honest..”
“The idea of me, who was she?
a never-needy, ever lovely jewel, who shine reflects on you.”
“..but you keep my old scarf from that very first week,
Cause it reminds you of innocence, and it smells like me.”
“And I was never good at telling jokes, but the punch line goes
“I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age”
From when your Brooklyn broke my skin and bones
I’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight
And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue?
Just between us, did the love affair maim you, too?..”
(part of lyrics of All Too Well 10 Minutes Version by Taylor Swift)
I did not have enough words to describe the whole song, I was just tearing up. Standing applause and hats off from me to her for such making a masterpiece.
and after I listened to “all too well”, it was as if Taylor invited me to go back to writing again about the things in my head that had not been spilled, writing again with my heart, reconciling separated words running everywhere, although it has not yet reached the stage of being sung and made a melody.
Overall, the song re-evokes my desire to re-create works from all my experiences and can learn to describe them more perfectly like her work. She’s such an inspiration.
